Representatives of the Platform joined the discussions on the Programme for just transition of coal regions

In October 2023, during the Second Annual Ukrainian High-Level Forum “Restoration of Ukrainian Mining Communities in the Current Context”, it was announced that work on the State Target Programme for the Fair Transformation of Ukraine’s Coal Regions would be resumed.

On 14 December, the first consultation was held with a representative of the Ministry of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine and representatives of coal regions on the Programme for Just Transition. During the consultation, the following issues were raised: changes in the coal mining communities that occurred after the russian full-scale invasion, the current situation and problems; and possible development strategies and approaches to solving problems in order to formulate proposals for the tasks and activities of the future programme. The programme should define what measures will be implemented at the state level to address the problems and promote the development of coal mining communities.

Myrnohrad, Pokrovske, Hirske, Dobropillia, Pavlohrad, Ternivka, Novovolynsk, Chervonohrad, Poromiv, Novohrodivka, and Lytovezh communities joined the discussion.
